Our Year 5.6 pupils were recently treated to a brilliant performance of William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet by the Young Shakespeare Company - this links to their topic on Tudors. They were absolutely captivated!

Year 5/6 Wonderful work at home & school
Since the school closures, many of our wonderful year 5/6 children have been busy creating some wonderful pieces of work at home. The children still attending school have also been very busy!

KS1 Lego Day
On Wednesday 4th March, Key stage One took part in a lego workshop during the morning. It was led by Philip and Maria who brought over 10,000 pieces of lego pieces into our hall! We started off by building a house and then made other items so that we could create the city of Coventry. We were really proud of the city that we produced.
KS1 Geography Walk
This was part of KS1 Geography looking at local facilities/amenities and types of housing.
NSPCC Number Day with 1C
Year One had great fun celebrating NSPCC Number day on Friday 7th February. We played dominoes. Tried to get to 100 with our numicon and used the Base 10 to practise our tens and ones. All the children had great fun.

Year 5 Staying Safe on Social Media workshop
The year 5s went to West Coventry Academy this afternoon (Tues 11th Feb) to watch the year 9s present some drama around the theme of staying safe on social media. After we watched them, the children were invited to take part in their own drama session.
Year 5/6 Tudor Celebration Afternoon
Year 5/6 held a Tudor celebration afternoon to showcase everything that they have been learning in their Tudor Topic. The children were absolutely brilliant in hosting and organising the event.

Quad Kids Event
Our athletic year four children won the Fair Play and Respect Award at the event.

Literally Coventry Festival
At Mount Nod we fully support the city's festival of books and reading. This year, we hosted an event as well as going to several other events across the city. Thanks to Mrs Hemming and Ms Cole for their hard work in organising the week.

Foundation Stage Nativity
Parents were thrilled to see their children perform on stage at this year's Nativity.
Cheerleading National Championships
Every June our cheerleading squads head off to Manchester to compete. This year they came home with two second places and a fifth! Fantastic!

Year Three Adventure Evening
An evening of exciting adventures for year three. Children in KS2 all take part in adventure experiences every year as part of our curriculum.

A fun filled evening was had when year four stayed overnight at school. The rain didn't spoil the event, as children camped in the classrooms!

Police Visit to Reception

Nurse Karen Visit to Reception Class
Children in Reception found out about the care of tiny babies when they had a visit from Nurse Karen from the University Hospital neo natal unit.
Christmas fun at Mount Nod
Children explored the woods to find, measure and work out the volume of parcels dropped by Santa, while others performed the tracks they had recorded in our "Write a Carol" competition.
Tom Wood visits Mount Nod
Former pupil Tom Wood visited us after his successful tour of South America as England Rugby Captain. An electric atmosphere greeted Tom in the special assembly. We can truly say that today Tom "inspired a generation."
Year Four overnight camp
Year four braved the wind and the rain on their overnight camp. The "Around the World" themed evening included cooking a Mexican meal and singing around the campfire as well as creating Aboriginal style art.
Coventry Inspiration Book Awards
We are proud of all the reading we do at Mount Nod. As part of this, our children enter the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards annually. For the third year in a row, our team won first prize for their presentation. The keen youngsters were invited to a dazzling event at St Mary's Guildhall, where they received their award and met Sir Quentin Blake! How exciting!
Literally Coventry Book Festival
Mount Nod supported the Literally Coventry Book Festival in June. Three separate groups of children attended author events at St John Vianney school, Parkgate school and Central Library. It was fantastic to see our children so excited about their experiences on return to school. We look forward to the city's festival in 2014!
