Weekly dates
In school on Monday 5th July, we will be starting to celebrate the Tokyo Olympics by having a Japan day. We will be learning all things Japanese, how they learn at school, their language, the different foods they eat as well as looking at their religions and culture. Many classes are wearing red and white on the day but it not compulsory.
Mount Nod will also be taking part in the Flames of Friendship relay. This is where a 1948 London Olympic torch is being transported from one Coventry school to another in celebration of the Tokyo Olympics.
On Tuesday 6th July, Allesley Hall with be bringing a small group of children to pass-over the torch while our children will welcome them to the school. This will take place outside on the field where social distance measures will be adhered to.
On Wednesday 7th July, in the afternoon a group of 32 children and 6 adults, will be walking down to Park Hill school. We will walk in pairs along a route, until we reach the school. We then walk through a socially distanced guard of honour, pass-over the torch and return home.
The children chosen to walk the route will be wearing sports gear to represent a particular sport from the Olympic game.
On Friday July 16th we will be supporting Zoe’s Place charity by selling ice creams and lollipops to raise money. They will be sold for £1 and all the money will be going to the charity which gives support to babies and infants with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions. More details to come next week.
